A little background to this purchase:I've always had hair that was difficult to brush, ever since I was little. Long or short, no matter what products I used, it always sounded like velcro and brushing was an absolute pain - literally and figuratively! But I thought it was an issue all people faced. I didn't realize until much, much later that it wasn't.Even when I had a bob, my hair was notorious for breaking even the most highly recommended brushes. Have I mentioned that it once took four of my friends to brush my hair in high school?Anyway, a few years ago I discovered the Tangle Teezer thanks to a few haircare blogs and forums. It was better than my older brushes and was my go-to for a couple of years until the bristles started falling off. Since then, I've bought a few off-beans versions which were cheaper but did the job almost as well.Recently, however, a YouTube video by Amber Ansah came into my recommendations about this brush, and my interest was piqued. Well, after a bit of research, and seeing there was a nice discount on a set, I took the plunge and purchased this.I used the travel brush first, as I went on a trip soon after this arrived. The brush was nice and compact, and I liked the little cover for the bristles. I would've like this on my Tangle Teezer, but ah, I digress. The travel brush was very easy to hold and certainly did its job. Now, my hair still sounds like velcro (lol) but my hair was tangle free with fewer strokes and less shedding. When I returned, I tried the regular brush out, and I have to say it does a better job than I expected and is even better than the travel brush. There were often times when my Tangle Teezer would completely miss areas or couldn't take out certain tangles and I would have to come in with a second brush to finish the job. Not so with this brush. It even detangled the dreaded area at the nape of my neck. The brushes themselves have held up well so far. The travel brush and cover stood up to being tossed around during a week-long trip where it was tossed from bag to bag and into a 50-lbs luggage for the long plane trip home. The standard brush feels very light, and I'm worried about how long it will last, but thus far it has exceeded my expectations. I'll certainly be sure to update with further developments, though.I've attached a reference picture for my hair and how long it is. I purchased the brush for thick hair because while the pic makes my hair look rather thin, it's slightly deceiving. (I promise I took care of those awful ends and last few inches!) And with my hair's reputation for bringing down even the best brushes, I wanted to give the brush for thicker hair a go after seeing what it could do. (Really, I don't know how y'all with actually thick, curly, voluminous hair do it!) Also, the colors were cuter. Yes, I'm 5.All in all, this brush gets 5 stars. Of course, updates will come if something happens to change it. But as of right now, my only regret is not buying two with that discount. *sigh*
